Ever..

Ever read a book and then you just cannot finish it?

Pretty in Ink…I am about half way and I just do not seem that into this book for some odd reason.  Maybe because I have to much going on?   I think I am going to pause on this book and then go to another one to finish.  Perhaps I’ll come back to this one.

My name is Madison Avery, and I’m here to tell you that there’s more out there than you can see, hear, or touch. Because I’m there. Seeing it. Touching it. Living it.

Madison’s prom was killer—literally. Now, thanks to a mysterious amulet, she’s stuck on Earth: dead but not gone. She has no idea why the dark reaper who did her in was after her, but she’s not about to just sit around and let fate take its course. With a little skilled light-bending, the help of a light reaper (one of the good guys . . . maybe), her cute crush, and oh yeah, her guardian angel, Madison’s ready to take control of her own destiny once and for all, before it takes control of her.

Well, if she believed in that stuff.

What is this book about:

Everything is on the line for aspiring editorial diva Dancy Ames when she’s fired by her publisher. Could this be the time to risk it all on her writing career–and maybe even love?

Dancy Ames has an enemy: Jack Quinn. The man who swoops in, steals her dream job at Lane Publishing, and fires her, saying she just doesn’t have what it takes to be an editor. Now that she’s unemployed, Dancy must find a new career. Coffee barista, English teacher, literary agent. Hmm. Maybe she’ll write a novel–a nasty invective, featuring a relentless job-stealing, coffee-drinking stalker who falls in love with a coffee barista. She’s got time on her hands, so when her friends dare her to send Jack a proposal, under an assumed name, she takes them up on it. If he likes it, she’ll have her ultimate revenge. But what will she do when it turns out that Jack is interested in her book–and maybe more?

My Take:

The cover jumped out at me!  Most of the books that I pick up, the covers usually catch my eye.  I flipped the book over and read the description of the story.  I thought “Hey this sounds like a cute read.”   I took the book home as it took me about 2-3 days to read with everything else I was doing in life. (Single mom here!!)   The story was fast pace as I liked how the family and friendship dynamics were mentioned.   Dancy is quite an interesting character to read and what journey she goes on.  Jack was a cool guy in this book and he has a secret which made me laugh.  It was a fun book to read.   One thing I will point out is that there is talk of church and God which was fine but that topic does not seem lecture you which is a good thing.   Lots of fun points in this book that was very light hearted. So take a chance to read this little gem!

Fangirl

I saw this little book at my work.  Anyone fall into this category?

I think I have had a few moments of being a Fangirl!  I’d say that would gear towards Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan fiction that I read years ago but it was not to the extreme. I never really wrote fan fiction.  I much prefer writing my own stories.

There are some  actors/actresses/writers that I totally think are cool but I know they are people!  A few moments of Fangirling for me is:  when Corey Feldman liked a tweet of mine, one of the Property Brothers answered my question, JD Scott answered my question on Facebook Live Chat, a few authors replied to me and I think Justin Hartley replied to one of my tweets two years ago.   Social media is cool and it’s nice to see  people interact with others. I know that even though they are famous, they are people.  They have feelings, they do cool stuff and they are doing the best they can too!   One must remember not to get upset if that person doesn’t answer your question or what not.  If you got a question in, great but remember let others have a chance too!

Everyone fangirls over something!

Check the information on the book below and see if you may pick it up to read.

FANGIRL

INFO:
You’d probably know a “fangirl” when you see one, but the majority stay relatively closeted due to the stigma of being obsessed with fictional characters. However, these obsessions are sometimes the fangirl’s solutions for managing stress, anxiety, and even low self-esteem. Fangirling is often branded as behavior young women should outgrow and replace with more adult concerns. Written by a proud fangirl,The Fangirl Life is a witty testament to the belief that honoring your imagination can be congruous with good mental health, and it’s a guide to teach fangirls how to put their passion to use in their own lives.

The Fangirl Life encourages you to use an obsession not as a distraction from the anxieties of life, but rather as a test lab for your own life story:

How can a character girl crush be useful instead of a waste of time?
How can writing fan fiction be a launching point for greater endeavors?
How do you avoid the myths that fictional romance perpetuates?

By showing you how to translate obsession into personal accomplishment while affirming the quirky, endearing qualities of your fangirl nature, The Fangirl Life will help you become your own ultimate fangirl.

let me fly free 003

Fire fears nothing. And Elaia is about to show her world that she doesn’t, either.

Like the rest of her kind, fire nymph Elaia is bound to her homeland, a forest whose borders were closed centuries earlier in a peace agreement between the humans and the enchanted creatures of the Terrestrial Realm.

But her heart is as restless as the flames she casts, and she secretly yearns to defy that order.

When a mysterious threat creeps into the forest, an invisible beast that leaves a trail of death in its wake, Elaia is determined to fight back and protect her people. Before she can, however, she must learn what the beast is … and the answers lie beyond the borders of her land.

Defeating this evil means she’ll have to go outside the rules, but she’ll do anything to find the answers she seeks—even if leaving her homeland means not only breaking the law, but risking her own life.

A game to end all games. On the line: her family’s future. Will Helen’s creation be enough to win the day? Or will she lose, and take her family down with her?

Helen Hunter’s father hopes to make his fortune by sending a robotic rover, controlled from Earth, to mine the surface of Mars for precious ores.

But there’s a catch. To do it, he’ll have to assume financial responsibility for the rover.  And on the harsh and desolate surface of Mars, one false move can mean the difference between untold riches and utter disaster. It’s a risky move that could spell doom for the entire family … and their hopes for the future.

Unless Helen can intervene.

The company behind the mining system—MARSCORP—is holding a junior gaming competition at their annual convention, and this is her chance. Grand prize is a one-year lease on a brand new Mars mining rover. Winning would mean that her father gets his shot at the Martian bonanza without any risk to the family.

But it won’t be easy. Teens from all over the country have come to compete. Some are smart. Others, ruthless. And Helen’s not the only one who needs to win. The mission: use her personally designed robot to fight it out in a high-tech arena that can simulate any environment, real or imagined. Beat the competitors. Bring home the prize.

Luckily for Helen, gaming and robot design are her specialties.

And when she unleashes her newest creation on the competition, a miniature homemade rover she calls DEBBI, the world is going to see just how skilled she really is.

The question is … will it be enough?

George Ebey has been creating alternate realities since a young age.  It all began when he started taking his once-vast collection of action figures on epic journeys though countless lands full of exotic wonders and hidden dangers. Today, his action figure collection is much smaller, though several still stand guard on his writing desk, ready to take up arms and march into the fray at a moment’s notice.

George was born and raised in Ohio, where he still lives with his wife and an ornery cat named Ollie. When he’s not writing or playing with his action figures, he enjoys being outdoors, studying history, and searching for new and interesting places to explore.

It’s been almost a year since the night of the accident that should have killed Grace. Nearly a year since her brother, Ash, sold his soul to save her. She survived, but that wasn’t the end of their story.

Not even close.

In the months since, Grace’s life has turned upside down. She can move objects with her mind, teleport in a blink of an eye, see dead people … and that’s just the tip of the crazy train.

And that would be fine, really … if she had any idea how to control it.

Instead, she’s stuck in a body that does things she doesn’t understand. And now, the contract her brother made for her life is drawing to a close. Which means he’s running out of time before the demon comes to collect his soul.

Unless Grace can find a way to save him.

When an angel named Michael shows up with answers and an offer to help her, she jumps at the chance—and agrees to help him with his own mission as the price.

Then she finds out that Michael is working with another demon. That the deal she’s made … is no better than the one from which she’s trying to save Ash. And she’s faced with a choice: turn and walk away, or try to save her brother—by working with the very monsters who have nearly destroyed them both.

Linda Foster was born and raised in Colorado, where she still lives with her (very patient) husband, two (very spoiled) ferrets and (equally spoiled) dog. Linda became an avid reading enthusiast the moment she picked up her first book, and has grown steadily worse. By the time she was fifteen years old, her library had become too big for her shelves, and she was forced to donate all her books to the local school, just to make room for new ones. She started writing short novellas for her friends in middle school, and expanded into full-length novels several years later.

The Realm of the Claimed novellas are her first published work.

Middle of the Week

So it’s the middle of the week and it’s been going pretty good.   Today was a hot day out here as I  had to figure out the best way to keep my house cool.  What I did was I found these old golden curtains I bought years ago (I bought them for my children’s room so it could be magical and superhero like type of thing) and decided to hang them up in the front.   Well the sun hits the front of the house quite a bit  in the morning and all that for a while.   I thought this would help keep the house cooler on hot days and all.   Well it turned out pretty well.   For now this is going to be a short solution, hopefully maybe get some simple blinds.  It costs money!  I am on a budget and must watch how I spend on things.

Today’s song that was stuck in my head was “All of Me” by John Legend with Lindsey Stirling.  I love love love this collaboration between the two of them.   It makes me want to twirl and dance.

The book I came across today was  “I Just Want to Pee Alone” by a group of various mothers.

IJUST

Basically the book (description is taken from Amazon: Now a NEW YORK TIMES BEST SELLER. Motherhood is the toughest – and funniest – job you’ll ever love. Raising kids is hard work. The pay sucks, your boss is a tyrant, and the working conditions are pitiful – you can’t even take a bathroom break without being interrupted with another outrageous demand. Hasn’t every mother said it before? “I just want to pee alone!” I Just Want to Pee Alone is a collection of hilarious essays from 37 of the most kick ass mom bloggers on the web. Including: People I Want to Punch in the Throat, Insane in the Mom-Brain, The Divine Secrets of a Domestic Diva, Baby Sideburns, and Rants From Mommyland. Read hysterical essays like: Embarrassment, Thy Name is Motherhood A Pinterest-Perfect Mom, I am Not And Then There was that Time a Priest Called Me a Terrible Mother So She Thought She Could Cut Off My Stroller.

I did peek at it as it was hilarious in some parts!  The title alone caught my eye since I am mother and it does happen that children do knock on the door or come in when you are using the bathroom.   It’s a part of life, a parent life.   So if this tickles your fancy, go check it out and get some laughs!

FORCE

I have joined in the ranks of seeing this film!  Wow!!   I love the twists and turn on this movie.  Some aspects I did not see coming and others I had a hunch.  Perhaps I am in touch with the Force.   The cast was totally epic and I loved loved seeing the original cast to come back for this (Leia, Han Solo, Chewie, C3PO, R2D2 and Luke).  Rey kicks ass, Finn shows a softer side and then gathers courage, Poe is one feisty fighter and BB-8 was quite an interesting android.   I cannot wait for the next one.   Yes I have seen all the Star Wars films and I never get tired of them.  I believe the first Star War movie I saw when was of the age 6 and loved every detail of it.  I even had a nightmare of Dark Vader back in the day that tried to literally make my one teacher in a hot air balloon. (Yup I get very very strange dreams at times..don’t ask me why…maybe REM sleep or brain is thinking too much and then decides to hit sci-fi land?  hahaha!)   I love the adventure, story, feelings, the good vs evil, the music, the details to everything in these movies.  It is amazing!

And I leave with you these thoughts for the night as I jump into the land of sleep.
