I spy a Graphic Novels

The year is 2421. Awkward and shy, Pepper buries herself in the universe of the classic fictional superhero Supernova to avoid dealing with the perils of the 9th grade. But then fate intervenes when Pepper encounters a strange cat named Mister McKittens and stumbles into a volatile science experiment run by a sinister substitute teacher named Doctor Killian.

Pepper is flung into another dimension, bringing her face to face with an order of cosmic beings who declare her to be the steward of their great power, champion of harmony in the universe, protector of worlds present and past.

Now, in the 21st Century, Pepper finds that she herself is the real Supernova. But as Pepper soon learns, escapist fantasy and reality are two very different things.

A graphic novel adaptation of the beloved, bestselling Newbery Honor-winning novel.

Movies

I know I haven’t been able to keep up with the blog since life is always busy!

So my mini update is movies!  I managed to see 4 new movies.

First off is: Star Trek: Beyond

startrek

Basic plot is: The USS Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a new ruthless enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.

I liked this film as I liked the other two.  The journey continues on.  The adventure was fascinating and the action kept me on my toes!   The whole cast is awesome.  The friendship between Kirk and Spock is just really well done here.  I love how there was conflict, drama and action.  Even the new character being introduced was cool too.

Next up:

Now You See Me 2

see-me

Plot: The Four Horsemen resurface and are forcibly recruited by a tech genius to pull off their most impossible heist yet.

Well I loved the first one.  This second one was pretty good too.  Although I have to confess it was weird seeing Daniel Radcliffe in this film as the bad guy.  There were a few surprises that popped up which I thought were great.  I love the twist and turns and power of magic (misdirection!).  It’s a must see.

Third movie is:

Batman vs. Superman

superman

This film was interesting.  Basically Batman goes after Superman and during this process Lex Luthor decides to join in and create something evil.  (Isn’t that what the bad guy does?)  I think this film was a little slow for my taste but once the action started up it was great.  I loved how Batman and Superman had some similarties and differences.   When Diana (aka Wonder Woman) comes into the picture, that was epic!     My emotions were rooting for the good guys as always and there were a few sad parts.   Nicely done.

Last Moive:

Underworld: Blood Wars

underworld

Plot: Vampire death dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) fights to end the eternal war between the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her.

I’ve seen all the Underworld movies and I had to see this one.  Of course I’m a fan of what adventure Selene will go on next.  The war continues on between vampires and lycans.  Selene doesn’t want anything to do with it and yet both sides want to use her.   I watched the film as the action was pretty good.  I enjoyed all the characters.   David  (Theo James)  is quite an interesting character as the story does focus on him for a tiny bit.   There are also northern vampires coven which is way north and I thought that was pretty fascinating.  Vampires with white hair!   It’s a must see I think if you are fan of the earlier films.  Once again Selene kicks butt in many ways.
