REVIEW:
I could not stop reading this book. It was so good and so many things happening!! If you like vampires, witches, demons, wolves and more, then this book is for you. The story mainly focuses on Ember and Killian.

The story is told from Ember and Killian’s view point. The author switches back and forth between the two which is easy to understand how each character is feeling, thinking and doing.

The summary up above tells you what the book is about. It definitely ticked all the boxes off for me. This kind of stories are so fun to read.

The moment Ember and Killiam meet is epic. The banter between them is awesome. I loved it. You could sense they have something going on there. Could it be lust? Could it be love? Could it be from the spell? What will ever happen?

They eventually work together to solve the murders that are going on. Plus Ember wants to get that magical item to help herself. Killian has his own plans as well. Will all the plans go the way they want them to or will they be thrown all over the place?

There’s passion, there’s pretending, there’s drama, there’s heartfelt moments and then there is spicy parts happening. Whooo! A great combination between Killian and Ember.

I love Ember’s sisters: Jade, Audra and Isla. They are all unique sisters and they look out for each other. Best ever. A nice family touch in the story is great! The sisters even somewhat warm up to Killian in time. I will say I love movie night moment. Oh my gosh. Movie nights are the best aren’t they?

I did mention other supernaturals that pop up in this book like vampires, wolves, demons, faes, and witches. The vibes I got off off of the wolves: being cocky, vampires: snobbish, faes: evil, witches: keeping everyone on task, and demons: having their own agenda. I love having the supernatural elements in this book. It gave off the feel of an urban fantasy genre.

I will say that I did like Killian’s friend: Taliah. She is pretty bad-ass.

I will point out there is one part in the book that could be scary regarding to the fae party. So to those who may have triggers, you might want to skip that part? Also there is murder mentioned and fighting between supernaturals.

For some reason I wanted to point out that the places that you are immersed into is great.. The library, the underworld area, the houses, the areas of the parties and so much more, you could literally picture yourself there. I know I did! Ember’s favorite place was the hedge maze. I wanted to go there and explore that place. Then for some reason I kept thinking of Bram Stoker’s Dracula movie scene of the hedge maze. It popped into my head.

I believe the author may have another book after this one and I want to read it!!

My Review:
Okay so I picked this book up to read the back of the book thinking, “Okay this is a supernatural spicy book with Fae in it.” I read the first few pages inside the book and it held my attention. I decided to keep reading, the beginning was very fun and flirty. As the story progresses, it is a mixture of everything.

Well……Some bits got pretty spicy that I was a bit shocked. Shocked!!! Some bits were not my cup of tea but I wanted to know what was going to happen to Bryn and Caiden anways. So I kinda of skipped those bits. Warning: darker side of spicy bits are not your thing then you may not like it. Everyone has their own things that they like and don’t like. I didn’t realize what it said on the cover below after I finished the book. It said ““Neon Gods meets Fifty Shades… Deliciously dark and sexy!” ―#1 NYT bestselling author Helen Hardt“. We all know what Neon Gods and Fifty Shades is!

Anyway, I think the supernatural element got me more intrigued. I kept trying to figure out what was going to happen next regarding to the supernatural side with Caiden and what Bryn’s mystery was. As I kept reading further into the story, I had a hunch on two things. Well one of them was right and the other was wrong but it was fun to guess. I even enjoyed the side characters in the story too. It kept me interested and I could not put it down. It wasn’t the whole spicy thing that kept me reading, it was the connection and what was going to happen next.

I really liked the connection that Caiden and Bryn had. It was on different levels and how they bring the best out in each other in various ways. Bryn is sassy, witty and knows who she is. Confidence! She’s not afraid of what to say. Caiden is powerful, fae and possessive. He’s the boss..what more can I say? He eventually changes a little bit when his relationship with Bryn deepens which is a good thing. They’re magic together. They run hot, then they run cold then they run back to hot. What more can I say?

So……What exactly happens to Caiden and Bryn? Do they continue to be together? Does something drive them apart? I”m not telling. Go get the book if you are interested.

I’m glad I took a chance to read this book. I rarely read this kind of spicy stuff but I know it’s out there. I really liked this supernatural world that Caiden and Bryn are in. It’s fascinating and I am looking forward to seeing what is going to happen next. The way the book ended is open for more adventures of that world.

And the hits just keep coming. Jaxon’s turned colder than an Alaskan winter. The Circle is splintered over my upcoming coronation. As if things couldn’t get worse, now there’s an arrest warrant for Hudson’s and my supposed crimes―which apparently means a lifetime prison sentence with a deadly unbreakable curse.

Choices will have to be made…and I fear not everyone will survive.

My Review:
Okay I admit I loved this story. It made me feel things. Oh my gosh. I felt Grace’s emotions all over the place. I felt upset, frustrated, happy, worried and sad. Gosh! What a roller coaster ride. I actually placed myself in Grace’s shoes in this story. Imagine how you would feel if this happened to you and what was going on around you and to your friends.

Where do I even began? The whole Jaxon and Hudson thing with Grace was conflicting and heartbreaking. It kind of reminded me “Vampire Diaries” just a tiny bit. I did like the connection between the three of them. Jaxon and Hudson are so different and yet so similar. Their affections to Grace was pretty amazing. I even thought when they argued was interesting too. They just all click in a different ways. Hudson and Grace throughout the book just kept trickling sexy steam which was awesome. Yes I squealed at some parts in my head. I am pretty sure you will too if you read it.

Which vampire do I like better? That’s a tricky question for me. I may be able to figure that out at the end of the fourth book, unless I can like them both?

While the story continues at the academy, Grace and her friends eventually go on more adventures. Some of the places they go are to the home of the Giants, the area where Dragons are at and the prison. All these places were so interesting to read about. Let me tell you why I thought these places were so interesting.

The Giants were just so fun. I loved how they are trying to track down the blacksmith where it leads them to the Giant’s territory. I loved how Hudson tells Grace she has a connection with Mother Earth. On page 212, you’ll see how this is true. Oh and the author does mention that Grace had always had a fascination for redwood trees.

The trees, carvings and being related to Mother Earth was amazing in this story. On page 214 “The building which is made from gorgeously polished wood is probably close to fifty feet tall on its own, but it’s dwarfed by the trees surrounding it on all sides.” Can you see this? Imagine a building of wood so tall and so magical! So rad isn’t it? Okay I think trees are cool so sue me. I want a tree house. Imagine.

While they are at Giant’s territory, they see amazing things and eventually meet’s the blacksmith wife, Falia who misses her husband so much who’s been gone for a thousand of years. She knows he’s still alive by the fact she’s wearing a promise ring given by her husband, Vander. My heart was aching at this point for Falia. I was pretty sure Grace was feeling that too. With new information about Vander and what had happened, they kept on going. They were not going to stop their task to get the Crown.

Okay so Flint ends up inviting Grace and everyone to a dragon event called Wyvernhoard that takes place in New York City! Talk about fancy! New York City is a fast paced city and there is always something going on there. (I visited that place years ago and loved it. One day I’ll visit again). Anyways while everyone is at this event, they learn how it works which is pretty damn cool. I love how the author came up with this event and how rich it really is. I want to go to this event! Oh oh and everyone gets dressed up! Can you imagine being dressed up in a fancy dress and all that jazz? Oh when Hudson sends tons of dresses for Grace and her cousin Macy to choose from. I love that. Psst page 331! You’ll love the note that Hudson sends. And which dress does Grace choose? It was so fun to see how that went down. *Swoons*

Into the belly of the prison. That is one risky move to do and such an emotional toll on some. The prison set up is really strange. I tried to keep picturing it as a town? I don’t know how to describe it but it’s a whole another world but there are various supernatural characters in it which makes it more fast paced and interesting. Flint, Hudson and Grace meet two new characters, Remy and Calder who are their cellmates. I like Remy quite a bit which reminds me of Gambit from X-men style for some odd reason. I keep picturing him like from the movie ‘Wolverine.’ Gambit was played by Taylor Kitsch from that movie. The banter between Remy and Hudson is hilarious. While in the prison Remy knows everything about the place and helps them achieve their mission but it is not easy. There are some tasks that Flint, Hudson and Grace go through which will leave you gasping, laughing and freaking out. You’ll have to read the book to find out what they go through and learn something pretty interesting about Grace during this time.

Now I have to say towards the end of the book…oh my… I was so downhearted. There was a death. I am not giving it away because just no. Spoilers not allowed. Death and sacrifice towards the end. I felt like screaming no at the story. (I couldn’t cause my children were sleeping. It was 1 am by the way when finished the book!) Then when I just think the story was going to end there, I was wrong. So wrong. I was in shocked. I did not see this coming at all. I managed to breathe but then again another shock hit me from the story. You know what I was thinking “You bet Grace is not gonna back down now.”

I know I am jumping all over the place about my review (it’s kind in order) but these are some of the things that stayed with me while reading this book. I can’t cover it all without giving the story away so go read it. Like now. Go get it.

The story ended but in my book (I bought it), it had Hudson’s perspective on one of the chapters which was really cool to get a feel how he was handling things. I loved it. His perspective and thoughts. Wow! That was a nice little gem.

I want book four now please!
